Salvation:

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
John 14:23

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
John 13:34,35 KJV

And, "ye" means you.

"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love...
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him..." 1John4:7,8,16

There is the something that can't be described or explained though we do our best to try, it is the something we call the Spirit. Jesus said that the Spirit would guide us into all Truth, though the world cannot receive it. Amen.

My view on this is that the Bible is not just another book, but without the Spirit it is just words printed on pages. For the correct interpretation you need the Spirit to guide you. Jesus said that the God is Spirit and those who worship him must do so in spirit and in truth. He also said the Spirit alone gives life. Science has yet to quantify the spirit, but it is the essence of our being.

... Jesus said:
"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me;
and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will,
but the will of him that sent me.
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me,
that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing,
but raise it up again on the last day.
And this is the will of him that sent me,
that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him,
may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."
... "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day."

John 6:37-40, 44

Acts 10:34:
"Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him."
